Short answers. If yours isn't here, write to us.

What is MAGIC TV? Does it come with channels?

MAGIC TV is a TV app for the playlists you already have (a server login or an M3U link). It has no channels, films or series of its own, and it never will. Without a playlist you can still use Ambient and a few free live channels.

Is it legal? Where do I get a playlist?

MAGIC TV is a player, like any video player. It comes with no channels, films or series, and we don't sell, offer or recommend any. We don't support piracy: use it only with playlists you have the right to watch. Many TV operators and broadcasters give their subscribers a playlist link - ask yours.

Which TVs and playlists work?

LG TVs from 2020 (webOS 5) and newer. Samsung and other TVs come later. Server logins and M3U links, with an optional TV guide link. Add more than one and MAGIC TV makes one channel list from them.

How much does it cost?

MAGIC TV Basic is free forever: Ambient, live channels from YouTube and all 5 themes, with no playlist and no card. MAGIC TV Premium adds your own playlists, Tonight, Popcorn, Stash and profiles. It's free for 14 days, no card needed. Premium goes on sale with the store release. One licence covers 2 TVs and everyone at home. There's no monthly plan. Your 14 free days start when you add your first playlist.

Why is Basic free forever? Ambient and the live channels play in YouTube's own player, and watching there is free. We don't charge for it, and we never will.

Is my login safe? What data do you receive?

[Goes live together with the privacy page, not before.] Your playlist login is stored encrypted on your TV and sent only to your provider. Your channel list and what you watch stay on your TV. Our servers receive a coded id and the model of your TV, your profile names and favourites (so your TVs stay in sync), the film and series titles we look up for posters and ratings, and your country. Reports only reach us when you send one. Everything is on the Privacy page.

A channel doesn't play. What can I do?

Press OK to try again. Many providers allow only one stream at a time, so stop it on any other TV or phone. To find where the problem is, choose Run a connection check on the error screen, or go to Settings › Playlists › Connection check. If it plays in another app but not in MAGIC TV, send us a report (Settings › About & help › Send a report).

Can I use it on a second TV?

Yes. On the first TV go to Settings › Account & TVs › Add a TV, then enter the code on the second TV.

I reinstalled the app. Is my Premium gone?

No. Before you reinstall, note your restore code (Settings › Account & TVs › Restore code). After the reinstall, choose "I have a code" and enter it: your licence comes back. Your playlist and settings are stored on the TV, so add your playlist again after a reinstall.

Can I change how it looks?

Yes. Settings › Profile & look › Theme. There are 5 themes (Amber, Heaven, Eclipse with true black for OLED, Graphite and Velvet), each in 4 colours. Every profile keeps its own theme.

Can I record programmes?

Not yet. If your provider offers replay, you can watch past programmes from the TV guide.

How do I report a bug?

Settings › About & help › Send a report. It sends the app's recent log to us, with logins, server addresses and names hidden, and shows you a short code. Send us the code with what you pressed and what happened. A phone photo of the TV helps a lot.
